Community Kitchen - transforming lives through food, connecting the local community.

The realisation of the idea of a community kitchen came to be in 2011, when Christine joined forces with The Salvation Army Employment Plus, The Rowville Salvation Army Worship Centre and Denise of Melbourne RTO Mediquest to connect different parts of the community.

Christine’s approach is through interactive connections, giving participants skills not only for work but for life.

The unique environment provides the participants the opportunity to get involved in the establishment of a small herb garden and developing skills through cooking & asset maintenance.

We offer participants the opportunity to gain vocationally relevant skills across a diverse range of occupation groups. A range of activities are available that build transferable skills not only for work but life in general.

The aim is to have fun whilst building work ready and work fit skills that cross to every part of life so that participants become more self sufficient and active in their local community.

We want to encourage like minded businesses and individuals to partner and support us to become an integral hub for the local community in Rowville.

In October Bunnings Scoresby donated the materials, plants and time to assist in the establishment of our vegetable patch. Daisy’s Garden Supplies gave us mates rates on the soil.

November saw the commencement of our community food program through the regular donations from Aldi Rowville.
